Last day of training for OSAR on Thursday. My team kicked some ass. We worked great as a team and finished before the other team. Which earned us some cold Gatorade and dark chocolate peppermint patties.

Getting ready for my 7th season at Palmer. This week it is OSAR (ocean search and rescue), last week it was fire team training. Less than a month and I’ll be back in the land of ice and snow.

Fire training for heading back to Palmer.

Fire training for heading back to Palmer.

The journey for me starts tomorrow.  I’m not Antarctic bound just yet, but rather heading off for some training.  I’ll be in the Denver and Gunnison CO areas while I learn more about fighting fires that I hope we never have and also how to do ocean search and rescue from a retired Coast Guard swimmer and a Alaskan land search veteran.
Early morning.

Hanging out in Northampton today and managed to catch a concert by Tina and her Horse at Tuesday Market. Love living in an area with cool stuff like this.

Soon I’ll be heading back to Palmer. In just over a week I head out and brush up on how to save people on the ocean and in case of a fire.

Until then I’m going to enjoy the short time I have left surrounded by the people and animals I love. I just hope that doesn’t mean anymore trips to the Vet’s office….

While on our trip we stayed in night in Yosemite with a friend who works in the park.  It was pretty awesome to spend the night in an old homestead ranch house.

Road tripping with a dog is fun.
